Advanced Hoops officially began in the summer of 2001 under the direction of Charlie Fortney’s Summer Basketball Camps. For the past 12 years, Charlie has worked closely with Gerald Jarmon and other Professional Coaches to develop a Comprehensive Training Program that currently reaches over 1,500 kids annually. Advanced Hoops has become a Full Time program that reaches kids from K – 12th Grade. We provide a Year Round Basketball Training experience that offers classes in the areas of 5v5 Instructional Games, Professional Shooting & Dribbling Instruction, Quickness/Strength & so much more. Our training programs focus heavily on Skill Development of the individual in order to build a strong base of fundamentals. Advanced Hoops also emphasizes the importance of Christian Character & Academics that youth can aspire to achieve.
Advanced Hoops has grown tremendously over the last five years. Our AAU Program has taken off significantly since its inauguration in 2009. Since 2011 our program has been the Largest AAU Organization in the Central PA Region and in 2012 serviced 38 AAU Teams including 6 TOP Showcase Girls and Boys teams. Each year the AAU helps develop young Basketball players into more confident and well round players. Current High School players who play for Advanced Hoops get the chance to showcase their “games” in front of College coaches from all over the country.
For the past 4 years Advanced Hoops has created “High School Sports Live” which has been a partnership with ABC 27 to broadcast Central PA’s top High School Basketball games and Wrestling matches Live on TV www.HSSLiveTV.com. In 2012 – 2013 the Program will broadcast a total of 7 Wrestling Matches and 28 Basketball Games showcases the Top talent in Central PA sports.
We also are proud to provide opportunities for the community through our Full Day Summer Sports & Activity Camps, Home School P.E. Classes, After-School Program & Sports Counseling. Advanced Hoops is also very proud to support the 3 Star Foundation (501c3) 3starfoundation.org, a program that seeks to use Basketball to mentor youth in Body, Mind & Spirit.
